Last weekend my niece celebrated her 13th Birthday and her most favourite thing in the world is Spongebob Square Pants. She absolutely adores him! With a Spongebob themed birthday party, there was no question about what cake she wanted. I used a 28cm rectangle tin and baked a milk chocolate mud cake. I filled the cake with a chocolate mousse and strawberry oreo filling (a bit of an experiment which paid off) I cut out some sponge holes and covered the entire cake with milk chocolate ganache. The cake was then covered in coloured fondant to look like Spongebob. The entire cake was edible including his legs and arms. My niece was very happy with her cake as where her friends! Hope you had a great party Alysia xx
It’s been a great week this week, with Easter now here, an 18th Birthday Cake and a new purchase!! This cake is a 20cm tall square cake. I used a double cake to get the height with the bottom half being milk chocolate mud and the top half being white chocolate mud. What a yummy combination!! Both covered in ganache and a thin layer of fondant. The cake was decorated with purple and silver/grey decorative strips, similar to that of a picture provided by the client. I went with the “explosion” top (my first one!) with the number 18 in the centre, balls & stars on decorative wire and a banner on top with the words “Happy 18th Gabrielle”. I used lustre dust to give a slightly metallic look to the colours. I was happy with the end result. Hope you enjoyed your suprise cake Gabrielle!!
Earlier this week I received a parcel which my husband had ordered for me. The “Agbay” cake leveller! Now I must say that this cake leveller is awesome!!! I have previously been using the large Wilton cake leveller and have struggled with it, finding that the blade bends whilst cutting and having to need too many hands to keep it cutting straight. Having now used the Agbay, I absolutely recommend it to anyone who like me has a passion with cake decorating. It took me a total of 3 minutes to level my cake including the measuring up of the height I wished to cut. The blade cut beautifully with ease and precision. The blade did not bend and had a perfect finished result. I am very impressed!!! Thanks Dame for finding me the absolute best investment we have made yet.
This weekend was a very exciting one, creating a stunning wedding cake! I had a great time creating this one. A two-tiered square cake. The bottom tier was a 10″ square, 5″ high caromello mud cake, covered with chocolate ganche and white fondant. The top tier was a 6″ square, 5″ high cherry ripe mud cake, covered with chocolate ganache and white fondant. The top tier was placed slightly off centre. The entire cake was embellished with 4mm, 6mm & 8mm gold cashous, giving a very elegant look. The cake was topped with a T & K initial topper provided by the bride. I am happy with the end product and hope that the bride and groom were also happy with it. All the very best to you both, I wish you a lifetime of happiness!!
I made a caramello mud cake for the occasion. Covered with a Cadbury Milk chocolate ganache, yum!! The most time consuming was the school emblem. I hand made this emblem from fondant, piping the detail with royal icing. The lettering was also made from fondant.
I hope that everyone else enjoyed the night as much as I did
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and my 7th Wedding Anniversary. What better way to tell someone you love them than with a gorgeous little cupcake! These cupcakes are white chocolate mud (my hubby’s favourite!) and are topped with white chocolate ganche, a chocolate heart and silver cashous. Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Anniversary Dame xxx
