Breast Cancer Awareness Cupcakes

This weekend a good friend of mine hosted her annual GNI (Girl’s Night In) to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation.  Kim lost her mother to breast cancer when she was a young teenager.  Kim’s mother was a lovely, lovely lady who was close to my heart aswell, she treated me like her own daughter.  She is missed and thought of each and every day!  Kim has always involved herself in fundraising events and has made the GNI an annual event.  Kim not only aims to raise as much money as she can for such a deserving cause but also wants to educate and spread breast cancer awareness to help as many people as possible.  She does a great job each year and her mum would be very proud of her efforts!  I was unable to attend the GNI again this year so decided to donate some cupcakes to either be auctioned off or used in what ever way Kim thought best.  I piped some pink ribbons, then made a batch of chocolate and white chocolate mud cupcakes, in pink cases of course!  I topped the chocolate ones with white vanilla buttercream frosting and the white chocolate mud with pink strawberry buttercream frosting.  Each cupcake was then topped with a pink ribbon and three gold cashous.  I packaged them in boxes of six. I hope all the lovely ladies had a fabulous PINK day!!!

If you wish to help this great cause you can donate via the Girls Night In website :)

13th Birthday Cupcakes

Last weekend my nephew celebrated his 13th birthday and his mum thought he should have some yummy cupcakes, after all, Aunty Christee-Lee does make the best cakes hehe :P .  I made a variety of flavours for the 3 dozen cupcakes.  We had chocolate mud, peppermint mud, white chocolate mud, white chocolate and raspberry swirl, marbelled white and chocolate mud and a new experiment chocolate hokey pokey mud. Each cake was decorated in the same or similar flavoured buttercream frosting and sprinkles of the key flavour of the cake.  I hope you loved your cakes and had a great birthday Bish! x

Spongebob Square Pants Cake

Last weekend my niece celebrated her 13th Birthday and her most favourite thing in the world is Spongebob Square Pants.  She absolutely adores him! With a Spongebob themed birthday party, there was no question about what cake she wanted.  I used a 28cm rectangle tin and baked a milk chocolate mud cake.  I filled the cake with a chocolate mousse and strawberry oreo filling (a bit of an experiment which paid off) I cut out some sponge holes and covered the entire cake with milk chocolate ganache.  The cake was then covered in coloured fondant to look like Spongebob.  The entire cake was edible including his legs and arms.  My niece was very happy with her cake as where her friends! Hope you had a great party Alysia xx

Cindy’s Baby Shower Cupcakes

This week I made cupcakes for a baby shower.  The glowing mum to be is expecting a baby boy and wanted a mixture of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with various shades of blue icing.  The colour theme of the day was shades of blue with a little silver and white.  We therefore chose to go with two blue shades and a silver in cupcake cases.  The mum to be was not keen on the traditional baby decorations and preferred the cakes be decorated with silver and white cashous.  The end result were some great little baby boy cupcakes.  Hope your day was perfect Cindy and can’t wait to meet the little fella when he arrives! x

Sandy’s Baby Shower

Here we have two awesomely yummy petite cuppies for a baby shower in a mixture of green, blue and pink cases.  First we have banana and macadamia cuppies with chocolate buttercream frosting and topped with a macadamia nut.  Second we have vanilla cuppies with passionfruit vanilla frosting and topped with a gold cashous.  Both these cakes tasted devine!! (Of course I had to sample them first to make sure they were good! :P )

The mum to be loved them, just what she had asked for and were apparently a hit at the shower.  Can’t wait to meet the little bubba when he or she arrives!! :)

18th Birthday cake

An 18th Birthday CakeIt’s been a great week this week, with Easter now here, an 18th Birthday Cake and a new purchase!! This cake is a 20cm tall square cake. I used a double cake to get the height with the bottom half being milk chocolate mud and the top half being white chocolate mud. What a yummy combination!! Both covered in ganache and a thin layer of fondant. The cake was decorated with purple and silver/grey decorative strips, similar to that of a picture provided by the client. I went with the “explosion” top (my first one!) with the number 18 in the centre, balls & stars on decorative wire and a banner on top with the words “Happy 18th Gabrielle”. I used lustre dust to give a slightly metallic look to the colours. I was happy with the end result. Hope you enjoyed your suprise cake Gabrielle!! :)

Earlier this week I received a parcel which my husband had ordered for me. The “Agbay” cake leveller! Now I must say that this cake leveller is awesome!!! I have previously been using the large Wilton cake leveller and have struggled with it, finding that the blade bends whilst cutting and having to need too many hands to keep it cutting straight. Having now used the Agbay, I absolutely recommend it to anyone who like me has a passion with cake decorating. It took me a total of 3 minutes to level my cake including the measuring up of the height I wished to cut. The blade cut beautifully with ease and precision. The blade did not bend and had a perfect finished result. I am very impressed!!! Thanks Dame for finding me the absolute best investment we have made yet.

Wedding Cake

This weekend was a very exciting one, creating a stunning wedding cake!  I had a great time creating this one.  A two-tiered square cake.  The bottom tier was a 10″ square, 5″ high caromello mud cake, covered with chocolate ganche and white fondant.  The top tier was a 6″ square, 5″ high cherry ripe mud cake, covered with chocolate ganache and white fondant.  The top tier was placed slightly off centre.  The entire cake was embellished with 4mm, 6mm & 8mm gold cashous, giving a very elegant look.  The cake was topped with a T & K initial topper provided by the bride.  I am happy with the end product and hope that the bride and groom were also happy with it.  All the very best to you both, I wish you a lifetime of happiness!! :)
