The cake was a new creation of mine, being a marbelled white chocolate and milk chocolate mud cake covered with white chocolate ganache and a thin layer of fondant. As the main colours of the bike are orange and blue I followed through with the orange, wrapping the cake in orange ribbon topped with a smaller black ribbon. I also carried this through on the cake board which was also covered with fondant.
Now the cake and topper were made and ready to go, I had to transport them from Mudgee to Sydney and have them remain in one piece! Luckily, I have a lot of boxes go through my work place on a daily basis so it was just a matter of finding a box big enough to hold the cake. With the right size box tranportation was alot easier. I left the topper off the cake and assembled the final details once there. Travelling in late afternoon/night kept the temperature right for cake transporting.
I had a few hicups, with the handle bars breaking …twice! and the seat got a little damaged but after a little reconstruction work, all was good. The birthday boy was happy with his cake and the replica of his bike. Happy Birthday Shayne!!
